Dev Santos' has a ticking time bomb delivered to him in the form of a Psy we later come to know as Katya. A scientist who, despite the Silence that deadens the emotional responses of the Psy, is horrified by the treatment of children inside her lab, Katya is captured whent the children are rescued. She is reformed by torture and sensory deprivation into a tool the Psy believe will be able to get close enough to Dev Santos to kill him. The leader of the Forgotten, a race of people with Psy, human and changeling blood because of their ancestors defection from the PsyNet before the advent of Silence, Dev is considered a great threat to the Psy Council's desire for more power and money.
Despite her conditioning, Dev and Katya become bonded emotionally, as Dev realises that though she is a threat, she is strong, and is attempting to fight with everything in her will. Katya comes to know Dev as someone to lean upon, someone who is there to be strong, and to help her be strong for him.
I really enjoyed this latest one in the psy-changling series.
I liked the way the relationship between Katya and Dev slowly developed from them not trusting each other to falling in love. There were a couple of light bondage scenes that were nice too.
