Flying the Coop by Illsa Evans

Once upon a time Chris Beggs and her husband had a dream - to own a farm with cows and chickens with a white picket fence surrounding a quaint cottage. So what could possibly be wrong with fulfilling that dream 15 years later as a 38-year-old divorced mother of two? Chris says goodbye to her city life and hello to dawn egg collections an strange animal noises during the night... With the enthusiastic help of her family, old friends, new neighbour, and a stranger on the end of daily emails, can Chris succeed in making this spur of the moment decision revitalise her life, or has she put all her eggs in the wrong basket? 

Easy, light read read with some laugh-out loud moments. I didn't like the way the men were all unfaithful and nasty characters.

Bad Faith by Aimee and David Thurlo

She's up against a hostile local sheriff, an ex-lover who's never forgiven her for 'abandoning' their life together. She's got no shortage of suspects-with-secrets outside-and inside-the monastery. And she'll have to race the clock to stop one remorseless murderer before there's more hell to pay... 

Great characters and lots of intrigue and mystery. A very enjoyable cosy. 

The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion

Rosie Jarman possesses all these qualities. Don easily disqualifies her as a candidate for The Wife Project (even if she is “quite intelligent for a barmaid”). But Don is intrigued by Rosie’s own quest to identify her biological father. When an unlikely relationship develops as they collaborate on The Father Project, Don is forced to confront the spontaneous whirlwind that is Rosie―and the realization that, despite your best scientific efforts, you don’t find love, it finds you. 

Quirky, whimsical, character-driven romantic comedy. A good read but I have no urge to rush out and buy the next in the series..

Room by Emma Donoghue

It's Jack's birthday, and he's excited about turning five. Jack lives with his Ma in Room, which has a locked door and a skylight, and measures 11 feet by 11 feet. He loves watching TV, and the cartoon characters he calls friends, but he knows that nothing he sees on screen is truly real - only him, Ma and the things in Room. Until the day Ma admits that there's a world outside.

Well written, very moving story.  I loved the beginning, got a bit unsure in the middle, but then the ending was really good.  The story being told in the voice of Jack meant that there didn't have  to be a lot of background, you discovered their story as Ma explained the world to Jack.

Lair of the Lion by Christine Feehan

Rumour says the powerful Nicolai DeMarco can command the heavens, that the beasts below do his bidding... and that he is doomed to destroy the woman he takes as wife. It is whispered he's not wholly human - as untamed as his tawny mane and slashing amber eyes.

Then Isabella meets a man whose growl is velvet, purring heat, and whose eyes hold dark, all-consuming desire. And when the don commands her to become his bride, she goes willingly into his muscled arms, praying she'll save his tortured soul... and not sacrifice her life. 

A gothic romance. Tried to be scary, but didn't quite make it. Could have been about half the length, even less if the same phrases weren't repeated on most pages.
