Kiss of Snow by Nalini Singh

The sexual tension between Hawke and Sienna is nearly explosive. Hawke doesn't take too long to come around to the decision that his wolf has been pushing him towards - pursue Sienna. It might take a little creativity on Sienna's part, but once he does; Oh boy. There are a few `almost' moments, where Hawke and Sienna's courting is interrupted by everything from injuries to Psy scouting parties to outright attacks, and you could feel the frustration, as well as the responsibility in each of those moments.

Hawke was the same alpha that I've always loved. The alpha who has feral wolves claiming him as their own alpha. In this dangerous war with the Psy, Hawke barely has time to set aside his responsibilities. So he never does. He and Sienna steal small moments, with the help of their Pack, and they don't give up on what they have together.

Learning more about Sienna, and what she has grown up with, what she's grown up expecting - to die before she reaches 25 - was heart-wrenching at times. And yet she always managed to impress me with the way she's managed to become such a strong young woman. She is absolutely more than a match for Hawke. But she's so much more than a perfect match for him, she's a fierce, beautiful, determined, resourceful woman that's not afraid to take chances with her heart, and will protect those she cares about, no matter the cost to herself.

There's an additional side story between Lara, SnowDancer's healer and Walker Lauren. It's an incredibly sweet story.

Dark Nights, Dark Dreams by Savannah Russe

Government agent Susan Chase (Sam) always kept her psychic abilities a secret. Now her secret is out and the C.I.A. needs her help. A highly classified all- female team of paranormal agents, Susan and her squad are now entrusted with the government's most unusual and dangerous assignments. 


The story was rather disjointed and the attraction between Sam and Bear not believable.  He has sex with her, then walks out the door. The next time he sees her it's as though he doesn't remember, but she can't wait to jump him again.  The he says he's not sure she's sane, but she will go to bed with him anyway.  He takes her doggie style and she's all worried that means he's into pain.  Sheesh!!


 Future stories in this series may be better, but I'm not going to rush out to find them.

Jewel of Atlantis by Gena Showalter

But need blossoms into passionate love as they fight demons, dragons, vampires -- and a prophecy that says the bond between them could destroy them both.


Likeable characters, especially Gray who is very macho and Alpha but able to tease. There are Demons (very bad guys), Vampires(not so bad guys), Nymphs (all they are interested in is sex), mermaids (who knows what they want) and Dragon shape shifters (the sexy good guys).


Lots of action and well set up for the next in the series. 

Holloway Falls By Neil Cross

 "Holloway has secrets. Years ago he witnessed his wife's betrayal and his life fell apart. Now someone's toying with his mind - and the life of a missing woman, the prostitute Holloway pays to imitate his ex-wife.


There's a cop who has murdered and asssaulted any man his ex-wife has dated (Holloway), then there's the man who started dreaming of disasters, went a bit crazy, faked his suicide and started a new life living with Lenny and his girlfriend.  They all sort of became entangled in the abduction, ransom and murder of a prostitute who looks like Holloways ex-wife.


Sounds complicated, but somehow all these threads wove into an enthralling story...and I still don't know how.


Strange combination of characters and events that somehow come together to give a satisfying ending. 

Immortals: The Haunting by Robin T Popp

Random flashes of unearthly light. Ominous messages written on steamy mirrors. Assailants lurking in shadows. Mai's hallucinations are becoming a little too real - the last one almost killed her. She's faced ancient demons and rogue vampires, but this kind of dark magic is more powerful than any she's seen. Mai also senses someone else trying to help her, a dream walker who comes in the night to soothe her fears. And fulfill her wildest fantasies. But who is he?


He's a dreamwalker....so yes....dreamwalker sex.  Otherwise known as very nice dreams.  There were demons in this too, but they were icky ones.


A nice light fluffy read.

Spellbound in Seattle by Garthia Anderson

Petra didn't have a magical bone in her body, but it didn't take a crystal ball to see disaster loomed. With enchanted blood on her carpet, a house full of Merlin-wannabes unable to clean it up, a petulant cat, and houseguests scheduled to arrive, she needed a miracle. She got a wizard, a whole lot of unwanted sparks, and a man-sized hole in the middle of her living room - a hole into which her feline promptly disappeared. 


This book didn't do it for me.  I kept reading hoping it would get better. It tried a bit too hard to be funny.  The main characters almost had sex a few dozen times but the phone would ring or there would be a knock at the door....sheesh.


They eventually got there, and the scene wasn't well written.  No wonder the author put it off.

Immortals; The Calling by jennifer Ashley

He's a six and a half foot tall warrior with a huge amount of magical power, the ability to kick butt, and a magical silver sword that turns into a cobra that coils on his arm and speaks telepathicaly to him. And he's been looking for his kidnapped baby brother for over 700 years. The stress has made a once merely disfunctional family fracture and he's lost track of his entire family.

He enters suddenly into the life of Amber Silverthorn, a witch whose sister was murdered a month ago by a demon. As he looks into the murder for Amber, Adrian starts to find clues to his brothers disappearance, his first lead in centuries. Struggling to protect Amber from the powerful and homicidal demon and still stay hot on the search for his brother brings the couple together. They adventure from the vampire clubs of L.A., to the covens of Seattle, to the frozen and desolate northern Alaska terrain in search of answers while building a tender romance.

In the end Tain, the immortal brother has gone stark raving mad from years of torture and seems possibly an even bigger threat than the uber powerful demon. Witches all over the world are asked to look for the remaining Immortals in order to stop both threats. The other 3 brothers must be found to ensure the worlds survival.

The cast of secondary characters including a dragon, a werewolf, a starlett, and a not-so-bad master vampire.


 Likeable characters, plenty of action and romance...whats not to like?

I'm looking forward to the next in the series. 

Bedtine Stories by Jean Johnson

Jean Johnson sneaks between the covers of such classic fairy tales as Beauty and the Beast, Puss n' Boots, and Sleeping Beauty, and refashions them into bedtime stories for adults only. With clever gender twists, hot fetishistic turns, other-worldly desires, and explorations into forbidden territories, Bedtime Stories reveals a veritable garden of sensual delights that gives new meaning to the term "happy ending."


Today's children's stories were once for adults, and these stories show us they can be again. These were more romantic than overly erotic but all were a good read.

My favourites were The Courtship of Wali Daad (a tradional Middle Eastern story) and Beauty and the Beast (a sci fi version....yes alien sex, lol). 

Covet by J.R. Ward

A winner-takes-all endgame between angels and demons with the final outcome determined by seven battles for seven souls. The only thing that stands between those souls and damnation is Jim Heron - a man whose own soul is gray enough to make him an acceptable advocate for both Heaven and Hell.

The first soul up for grabs is Vin diPietro's. Vin is a rich and powerful man who is never satisfied with what he has even though everything he has is the very best. A man who started with nothing, did whatever it took, and bent whatever rules he could get away with to make it to the top. A man who has `lost' himself in a fog of avarice somewhere along the way, teetering on the edge of damnation, until the night that he catches a glimpse of Marie-Terese across a crowded dance floor. Seeing the beautiful and somehow familiar Marie-Terese is like a wake-up call for the soul Vin doesn't even realize that he's been loosing.

When Vin enters Marie-Terese's life she too is at a crossroads. The job which has meant her survival for Marie-Terese has been eating away her soul bite by bite. The wealthy and handsome Vin is everything Marie-Terese finds attractive in a man, but she's been there done that and paid a steep price for that mistake.

Little do the pair realize that Vin is a playing piece in a cosmic game, with points awarded based on whether or not Vin takes that final step towards damnation. But Vin is not alone on the game board, he has a champion in the form of Jim Heron - the sole person who has been chosen by both sides to help Vin with his choice. But of course Team Hell is cheating and trying to push Vin over the line. Still, even with Jim's help, it is Marie-Terese who is the key to Vin's salvation. But if Vin and Marie-Terese can't break free from the ghosts of their pasts and Jim can't head off the demon working to keep them ensnared by said ghosts, the world will be literally one step closer to Hell.



 I liked the romance between Vin and Marie-Therese, but this book didn't grab me as much as the Black Dagger Brotherhood books by the same author did. I think it might be because the romance doesn't involve the 'hero'.

I would read more in this series to see if they improve. 

Alien Taste by Wen Spencer

Ukiah Oregon was abandoned as a child and raised by a pack of wolves. Discovered and adopted by humans at the approximate age of 12, he has grown to be a part of human life. He now works as a tracker for a private investigator, a finder of lost children. But he still has no idea of his true parentage, no idea who they were or why they abandoned him.

The novel opens with his latest case -- a missing woman who attacks Ukiah when he finds her, forcing him to kill her in self-defense. This brings him to the attention of both the FBI and a group known as the Pack, a biker gang that is more than they seem. And, from this point on, things get *really* weird.

It involves aliens...and mice.  Really, really good book.

 Fascinating and thoroughly enjoyable. An interesting, different storyline. Unputdownable.

I read it in one day during 2 flights and a few hours wait at a couple of airports. It certainly helped the time pass quickly! 

City of Masks by Daniel Hecht

Cree Black is one of a team of investigators who specialize in ghost removal. She is a clinical psychologist who discovered that ghosts exist and she is sensitive to them. This empathy she has also extends to those who are being haunted as well. She is hired to investigate the daughter of a socially prominent New Orleans family who is being haunted by a violent and menacing spirit.

A pig headed ghost repeatedly molests a woman in a family mansion, a news reported dies without any explanation in the kitchen, and the head of a family finds herself desperately trying to preserve what honor and sanity are left for her heirs. However to solve the mystery of the apparitions Cree needs to start the tortuous journey of unraveling her own issues.


Hecht captures the atmosphere and magic that lurks in New Orleans, and reveals what lies under the masks that the city, and her people, put on to hide what goes on below the surface. The novel so believable, even the ghost explanations and science. The characters, good and bad, came alive and leapt off the pages, they are all so believably tormented by events that they come across as entirely sympathetic. The story is edge of the seat creepy and suspenseful, with wonderful psycho-babble and, of course, the paranormal. Cree has to find out who the ghost is, why it is lingering and then get rid of it. To do that she has to find the secrets of her clients - and they are not going to reveal them in a hurry.


Well developed, mainly likeable characters, an interesting theory on ghosts, lots of mystery and the possibility of romance made for a very entertaining and absorbing read.
