The main character Claire is a decoy - an actress who works with a private detective. Her job is to go out with married men to find out for their wives whether they are being faithful or not.
Claire gets a job from another detective who is trying to catch a serial killer who kills his victims in disturbing ways (by using the dark themes of a 19th century poet).
There were a lot of twists and turns. It got a bit icky a couple of times...and that wasn't the S & M scenes.
