On, Off by Colleen McCullough

It's 1965 and at a university research centre human body parts are discovered in a refrigerator. Then police lieutenant Carmine Delmonico finds that a string of similar horrifying events have occurred around the state.  There's a serial killer abroad.

OH WOW!!!   Good book until the last couple of pages when it became a really, really good book.

The story of the Alice that Alice in Wonderland was based on.

A fascinating read that draws you in and won't let go.

The Naked Face by Sidney Sheldon

Dr Judd Stevens is being framed for murder.  Will he survive to find out who is framing him?

Lots of twists and turns.  I didn't like the racist comments and attitudes.

The Catherine Wheel by Patricia Wentworth

The Catherine Wheel is an old smugglers inn and the site of a reunion of the Taverner family.  Scotland Yard suspects the owners of the inn are involved in drug smuggling and sends Miss Silver, an elderly spinster, to investigate.

A pleasant 'cosy' read.

A Vile Justice by Lauren Haney

4 odd murders in ancient Egypt have vizier Lieutenant Bak of the Medjay Police puzzled and asking whether it's the wrath of the gods or the work of human hands.

An interesting read.  A few twists and turns and a gradually unfolding mystery kept me reading.

I liked the setting, ancient Egypt is an unusual setting for a mystery.
