M is for Magic by Neil Gaiman

A modern master of fantasy has selected nine of his short stories and a poem to include in this book. There's a scary jack-in-the-box and a troll under a bridge. A rogue describes a perfect scam. A black cat fends off the devil; the eaters of a phoenix discover that it burns. There are stories about teenage boys talking with girls (and fantasising about touching their breasts), young  live boys with ghosts, old ladies talking with knights in armor, and aliens.

Magically, wonderfully Gaiman.

My favourite stories were; October in the Chair (the months sitting around a campfire telling stories of things they have seen) and The Witch's Headstone (a live boy who lives in a graveyard wants to get a headstone for the witch buried in the corner).

A very quick, very enjoyable read.  made me smile and gave me shivers.

Absolute Power Exchange; Twenty Years Later by Candace Blevins

What happens to a kinky couple after twenty years of marriage, with kids in the house and two active careers? Can they keep the magic alive? Will he still own her, or will they have relaxed into something comfortable?

When the rules, protocols, and constant reminders of his ownership slide away and get lost in the daily shuffle of life, can they get the magic back?

A really great book.  It was good to see a couple with 2 teenage children getting back into their D/s relationship that had been almost forgotten while they were raising their children. Before they had children he would micro-manage parts of her life.  They got back into that and back into morning discipline for her.  She would get 3 - 5 swats with an implement of his choice each morning.  I remember when we used to do something similar. 

It was a well written book from an author I enjoy who lives a D/s Total Power Exchange relationship with her husband.

Light in Shadow by Jayne Ann Krentz

Hiding behind an expensive, black-market-created identity, Zoe Luce has built a successful interior design business in Whispering Springs, Arizona, and hopes that she has just as successfully buried her past. She can't ignore her unique psychic abilities, however, and when she walks into a new client's bedroom and hears the walls scream and moan, she knows something terrible has happened in the house. Did her client murder his wife? She's determined to find out, but investigating a possible murder is beyond her expertise, so Zoe turns to Ethan Truax, a private detective new to the small Arizona community. Solving the murder of the businessman's wife is a piece of cake for Ethan compared to the complicated enigma that he finds in Zoe. Mysterious nightmares haunt her and when a would-be blackmailer is found dead, Zoe's past inexorably collides with her new life.

A light enjoyable read. I loved some of the comments between Zoe and Ethan. They had me smiling a lot. 

Romance, suspense and a touch of the paranormal.

The Boy in the Suitcase by Lene Kaaberbol and Agnete Friis

Nina Borg, a Red Cross nurse, wife, and mother of two, can't say no when someone asks for help- even when she knows better. When her estranged friend Karin leaves her a key to a public locker in the Copenhagen train station, Nina gets sucked into her most dangerous project yet. Inside the locker is a suitcase, and inside the suitcase is a three-year-old boy, naked and drugged, but alive. Is the boy a victim of child trafficking? Can he be turned over to authorities, or will they only return him to whoever sold him? When Karin is discovered brutally murdered, Nina realizes that her life and the boy's are in jeopardy too. In an increasingly desperate trek across Denmark, Nina tries to figure out who the boy is, where he belongs, and who exactly is trying to hunt him down. 

 A very good storyline. For a while I found it hard to keep track of the various characters. It all started to come together in the last third of the book. The boy was abducted to be a kidney donor for a rich mans son. 
I won't be rushing out to find the next in the series. The main character, Nina, who is apparently the "heroine" of the series was too annoying.  She is so concerned about saving the world she forgets her husband and children.  Not at all a sympathetic, likeable character.

Know by Lilia Moon

A very good story about a Dom who's life is changing and a sub who wants her life to change.  The Dom isn't sure what he wants and the sub wants a new life without losing what she has.  Both need to change and find a new way together.

A very good book that I couldn't put down.  I loved the pink nuts and bolts and wrench.  The main thing I enjoy about this series, the same as the Cherise Sinclair series, is the way the D/s relationships work in real life.

Wray by M.K. Idem

Kim is abducted from Earth by nasty, hairy, smelly aliens called Ganglions.  She is being taken to a slave trading planet.  On the way the Ganglions  pass through Tornian space.  Tornians don't like Ganglions so they attack their space ship. Wray finds Kim badly beaten and having been repeatedly raped so Wray decides to take Kim back to his spaceship.  On the way they are shot down and crash land on a moon.  A big sand storm is coming so he takes her to a cave.  Ways crew can't rescue them because of the storm so they spend a week together in the cave.  They fall in love.  They get rescued and go to Wray's planet.  They have sex, lots and lots of sex.

It was a light and fluffy read.  I think I enjoyed it because Wray was a big, tough, protective warrior.  Many others are scared of him, but with Kim he is all marshmallow.

Sister by Rosamund Lupton

But as she learns about the circumstances surrounding her Tess's disappearance, she is stunned to discover how little she actually knows of her sister's life - and unprepared for the terrifying truths she must now face.

The police, Beatrice's fiancé and even her mother accept they have lost Tess, but Beatrice refuses to give up on her. So she embarks on a dangerous journey to discover the truth, no matter the cost.

Grabbed from the beginning and kept me interested.  Both the mystery of whodunnit and why and the way the characters changed and grew.   A really good twist at the end that I saw hints of but didn't fully see coming. An excellent book.
